[Closed] Chain guard with a triple chainset?

Looking for some sort of chainguard for my donkey/pub bike. It has a deore triple chainset, and I don't want to sacrifice a chain ring for a bash guard - I only want to protect my trouser leg from the chain.

It appears that shimano make a plastic guard, but it required the large chainring to have the holes predrilled to fit it, and mine hasn't. Before I start drilling holes in my chain ring, is there another solution? I've seen that Driveline make a metal chain guard that appears to bolt on outside of the big ring (using the standard mounting holes, longer bolts are supplied). That looks ideal, but I have my doubts that it'll fit between the chain ring and crank arm. Has anyone used one of these with success?

We use on of these on the triple on our tandem.

Works great.

Don't forget that you'll need longer chainring bolts as well!

I've used an SKS Chainboard with a triple. Pretty much as per the more involved stuff in midlifecrashes' link.

YMMV, but I couldn't actually get it to play brilliantly with the big ring. In the end I just fitted a bashguard, which does get you 90% of the way there for trouser-protection purposes.

🙂

This is what I'm looking at: http://www.driveline.com.tw/_en/product_detail.php?id=176

If it fits behind the crank arm, it should do the job, and it even comes with longer bolts. Which seems like a good deal for £15.

The Salsa tooth fairy looks like it's unavailable, and it and the Black Spire ones look like overkill for what I need. Those plastic chain cases look suitable though.

You need skinny legs for skinny jeans, and I've got proper cycling calves!

I'm not into wearing bracelets, but I don't know how that's supposed to save my trousers anyway? :-p
