Just thought I'd shout for some advice.

My chain is coming off 3 times a ride ( swinley, cannock etc nothing extreme ) on my lapierre froggy.

I have a single shimano ring up from and the bash guard and bottom guide on at the moment.

Looking for solutions really, different chain rings, chain guide recommendations etc all welcome...

T

What conditions everything in, what gearing are you running and is it the big S or SRAM?

Everything is in OK condition, the bottom guide grinds a little, rubber is worn, the ring doesnt have any ramps either

It's all Shimano, saint cranks etc, 1x9....

Someone said a renthal CR has higher teeth which may help - I'd be up for trying that - dont know if there is any truth to it though...

You need a top guide to stop the chain coming off. If it comes off even a single tooth then your pedalling action will remove it completely from the chainring.

Superstar's stuff seems to be held in high regard for a decent price...

I have a renthal non ramped single ring up front for my 1x10 setup on an alpine 160.

I was dropping my chain a couple of times per ride (gamut p20 device) turned out it needed spacing out a bit more as the chain could slip down between ring and top guide. 2 rides since fettling and no dropped chain.

I'd say you defo need a top guide

e thirteen STS are cheap at CRC at the moment. I've got one on each of my bikes, works perfectly

You could try an N-Gear Jump Stop for a much cleaner/nicer look than others. However I don't know that they work as well over rough stuff as there's nothing to stop the chain bouncing off the top. The superstar XC SS one should work fine - superstar stuff is generally great quality especially for the money.

I use both the mrp g2 and the e13 ls1...no problems with either setup

any chance of posting a few pics so that we can see in more detail, how you have it setup......you may have overlooked something that we can spot that helps

no chance of posting pics - unless someone can send me the eos utility disc for a 400d - I lost my old one and have a new mac - doh

Sounds like im just going to have to bite the bullet and get a new chain device with a top guide...

fwiw - may chain doesn't slip off under power or anything, but roots and bad line choices kick it off easily...

cheers for all the suggestions guys

your 400d should just connect to a mac and appear as a normal external drive. no need for special drivers
