I spent a few hours here yesterday afternoon riding the 12 km Bodmin Beast trail.
It's lot's of fun with some nice twisty trails and good descents. If you're in the area on Holiday I'd recommend it. There's good parking (£3 all day) and a nice looking Cafe. Although I must admit I didn't buy anything from it 😆
You may have seen me there, riding a bright orange Marin Wolf Ridge 🙂
Was there Monday, Wednesday and Friday we liked it that much, not a big place but well laid-out & with some decent sections. When we're back down next yr we'll definitely be visiting again.
Its good fun there, nice mixture of stuff. The cafe is lovely but oh-so-expensive. Also worth checking out Gawton for more gravity orientated stuff nearer Plymouth as well if you are down that way.
Pedal up to Lanhydrock as well if you get a chance, the blue grade trails are quite good when ridden fast plus it's good for taking the family to for some beginner-type riding.
I will always remember cardinham as the place I managed to jump a tabletop the way the trail builders planned instead of coming up short. Happy days.
Needs at least a couple of laps though, it makes follow the dog seem long.
Was there yesterday evening about 6 ish...Dry trails, i now work about 15 miles from there,so after work rides are good
Did a few laps with 2 mates.
Was a few there but surprisingly empty
I'm in Polzeath on holiday this week. Planning Cardinham woods for an early morning spin one day.
Every morning my mate is running 12k on the SW coastal path, so I'm joining him for a pre-breakfast spin with my bike. I know, I know, it's a footpath, but if any walkers complain, I won't hear them due to the dreadful noise my brakes are making!
lanhydrock is a must if you're there
Yeah we also went to Lanhydrock - it's so close to Cardinham it would have been rude not to.
But I enjoyed Cardinham more and you're right about the length. It could do with being about twice as long 😀
The new trails at Lanhydrock are also good fun. With a mix of trails from an easy family trail, to some more demanding XC and downhill trails. Good cafe and bike hire too.
Not far from Cardingham so you can have a great day out combining both locations.
Cardinham is aces considering how much of a bad rep this area has for riding it's a great facility.
A good day out is start at lanhydrock, head out on the green, swing off to do Walter's trail, then down to the hart and timber trails, finish off the green trail and do the other blue, roll down to cardinham for a spot of lunch, two laps first one include hells teeth, then back up to lanhydrock.
Bugger, we missed Lanhydrock out because we thought it was purely family trails. Oh well, only another 51 weeks til we're there again 🙁
agreed - I rode Cardinham a few times last year on my cross bike, great fun.
Headed to Lanydrock this year, again with cross bike - really impressed with the new setup there. I went with my wife, who's not really a rider, so the easier trails were spot on.
I missed out lanhydrock thinking it was all easy blues, the 2nd red section at cardinham was closed, and stupidly I thought that was the fun little duel trail that I'd seen on you tube. Doh!
I'll be back next august though 🙁
