Hi, I'm going to run a carbon seatpost on my Bfe in the winter and the uppy downy in summer. The reason for carbon is to provide a bit of "give". Would I be better of getting a Thomson alloy and running the tyre softer or tubless or going for something like a USE carbon and still running my tyres hard? Im 14 stone but don't just smash through everything, I like to think I have some sympathy for components...

Opinions please

A carbon seatpost is not going to make an enormous difference, where as running big volume tyres at lower pressures will.

I'm running 2.35 minnions on my FS bike. Think that would do the job then if I lower the pressure a bit?

If you're not running tubeless, then i'd go for that. I ran my steel 456 with tubes, then tubeless and it made a huge amount of difference to the comfort.

I will have a look at some ghetto tubless options then because I like my wheels and I'm tight!

I ran a USE Sumo Carbon post on my old Pace 303. Certainly improved matters, but I had to give in eventually. BFe should have bit more natural give anyway. Some nice big tubeless tyres would be a good move. Also, in my experience, a Ti railed saddle helps. I have both Cro-Mo & Ti railed Spoons & the Ti is comfier. I can tell the difference anyway. WTB "V" series saddles are very comfy, if a little DFS in the looks dept. Pricey though, in Ti railed variety.

I already run a cromo spoon. I will have to get a TI one as well as tubless then.

Thanks all
