Was in Singapore recently, in the part of town where money is no object. I saw the Trek store so went in to feast my eyes on the top of the range stuff that isn't to be found at the LBS.

The CF 9 series hardtails were just unbelievably light - a real revelation. I'd love one of those but the price is just a little on the high side for my budget at the moment ๐Ÿ™‚

What did strike me was the mandatory warning sticker on the bikes. I can't recall it word for word but it stated that CF can fracture without warning and that weaknesses in the frame might not be apparent after a crash etc.

Sooo... does this mean that you spend all that money on a CF frame, only to have a huge 'off' somewhere and from that moment on you can't really trust the frame anymore - and ultimately it has to be binned? Surely that can't be the case?

It doesn't make for a very practical bike for the sport it is intended for.

Those stickers are structural, don't go peeling them off or I'll sue.

Thanks for the link clubber - I missed that thread first time around.

I think I'll start saving ๐Ÿ™‚ I *need* to have one of those frames.
