[Closed] Canyon Road Bikes anyone?

Toying with the idea of an upgrade from my Felt.

As always, Canyon seem to deliver a lot of 'bang for your buck' but I was wondering whether anyone had any real life experience of riding them? The two options knocking round my skull are based on the Aeroad CF SLX and the Ultimate CF SLX.

It would probably be in XL and I am interested to hear whether they flex, ride quality, handling issues etc etc

The good, bad and ugly please...

The thing I dislike is the fact that I can't test ride one.

This might help, some replies from SLX owners...

I ended up with a Defy instead though.

No direct experience as I ended up buying a Rose (which is brilliant) in the end and cancelling my canyon order as the delivery dates kept slipping....

Chap I meet on a sportive the other week was very happy with his CF SLX, seemed a serious roadie, member of club etc... he said he'd buy another one.

I'm seriously considering their CX bike.

I do very much like the aeroroad though I think most riders would be better suited to the CF SLX.

I've owned an Ultimate Cf 9 for a couple of years now. Great bikes. Would buy another. Do their PPS bike fit to get the correct size. worked for me.

I should also mention I know other riders who own Aeroad's and ultimate's and they are very happy with them.

be prepared to get pissed about on delivery, my bike was fine the wifes is being a real nightmare,
"it will be shipped next week"
"oh yeah sorry about that stock taking overrun at the factory definitely next week"
"Oh yeah sorry talked to the factory and they say next week"
all after it was put back a month 🙄 and if I don't get notification by this evening then I'll have to email them for the next excuse.

though a very nice bike due to the above experience I won't get another Canyon.

Klunk has a point about their "dispatch dates", I was lucky it was only 3 weeks late. Communication was also poor. However for the price saving I can accept it. Although buying direct has its pitfalls, my delivery experience was smooth and professional.
As for the bike, it's been great. I went for the ultimate cf and for the average rider can't see the benefit of going to the slx version. The slx is lighter and maybe a bit stiffer but for the same spec much more pricey.

More and more of my clubmates are buying these bikes, and all are really pleased. I like the fact that they supply 2 pro teams and you can buy for sensible money the same frame. I'll be buying one 2015!

A couple of concerns in that the sizing, but I can my mates, and second I think the fork and headsets are a weird size, but this isn't a deal breaker....

Had the basic Roadlite for about 2 years now and it's been spot on.

Not noticed any flex in mine despite it being the XXXL 66cm version.

I'd happily buy another tomorrow.

Mine arrived very quickly and on time.

Couple points to add, I have a Ultimate AL, bought from stock last year and it has done 3000 miles through all weathers without missing a beat, usual lubing and replaced the tyres but thats it.

People have said that Canyon's Customer care can be a little hard work, during trying to re-thread the internal rear brake cable I ham fistedly snapped the plastic cablestop that fits in the frame, I was concerned that under heavy breaking this might slip into the slot on the top tube rendering me brakeless, so I e-mailed Canyon expecting a £5 cost with £20 postage but they popped it in the post for me, delivered FOC despite it being of no fault of theirs.

However, I am now waiting on a 2015 CF SLX, but I'm not that bothered that its already three weeks late as its really next years summer bike, glad I held out for the 2015 version as its even cheaper than last years! One day the box will arrive with my new pride and joy.....

Really keen to get one myself. Their factory outlet on the website has some great deals. O.P. how tall are you out of interest? I am 6 3 and they say xl but I feel xxl might be better?

I adore mine. The standard of the finish particularly impressed. There are no marks anywhere other than the right chain stay and some minor cable rub after two years of use. I bought a frameset from Canyon then a groupset cheap from bike24, rather than getting a full build.

This might be useful re. sizing: http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/canyon-xxl-road-bike-riders

I've had an Aeroad and now have a ultimate cf slx. Both great bikes but for general riding around the ultimate cf slx gets my vote. Their both genuine pro tour frames so you can't say one is "quicker" than the other.
You wouldn't go wrong with either of them, so don't over think it, get the one you like the look of most.
P.s
At 6ft 3" you want an xl the xxl is massive !!

@hammy7272 I reckon an XL will work for me. The geometry is similar to my other road bikes. XXL would be too long and high looking at the numbers but basically what taxi25 says.
