Cannondale SuperSix (older style) bottom brackets - all BB30?

OK so I've had a couple of Supersixes (and other Cannondale road bikes) and it was my understanding that they all had BB30/BB30A bottom brackets (2016-17 era, that sort of thing) but when I couldn't get the BB30 bearings out of this one I've acquired, thinking there was some sort of protective sleeve in the BB shell for some reason, the LBS said it wasn't actually BB30 in there but PF46, which is a bigger bore (46mm vs 42mm diameter) than BB30 standard. I was slightly taken aback by this, should I be? Hopefully just that I'm not knowledgeable enough and it's perfectly normal, but my mind started racing about whether it's some sort of elaborate fake rebadged as a legit SS. It looks and smells like a SS, I have no other reason to be suspicious. Anyone got any idea? Cheers.

Edit: or am I totally mixed up regarding these standards, full stop 🥴

Since realised (I think?) that "PF46" is another name for PF30 then. Not delved into BBs for quite a while, forgot how labyrinthine it was!

If it’s pf30 then it’s bearings in plastic cups pressed into the frame. Not a Cannondale but I’ve got one of the very same to install into a carbon frame this week. Think it’s a bit of a bodge to make up for poor tolerances across bike frames tbh.

The caad12 disc frame I’m just getting rid of (once I’ve cleaned and advertised it) was bb30a and had no issues with that at all. Changed the bearings once although it wasn’t really needed tbh.

Yeah I know about PF30 and the plastic cups, it was more that I was surprised for one to turn up in a Cannondale since they have only been BB30 in my experience. I always swap out press fit BBs of any flavour for a screw-together solution, such as WheelsMfg, but this removal stopped me in my tracks!

Apparently there is a pf30a which must be a Cannondale standard as only they do something to make themselves completely non-compatible with anything else on the market.

My caad 12 has a bb30a bb, flat mount rear brake but with a post mount brake fork and then the 25.4mm seat post size 🤬

Yep, this SuperSix is replacing (eventually) a CAAD12 disc as it happens. I'd bought a nice carbon 25.4mm seatpost for it - when I sell the CAAD I'll doubtless revert to stock as far as I can, and that seatpost will not be in much demand I suspect!

I kept toying with getting a carbon post for my caad, but I had a di2 battery in my standard post and couldn’t bring myself to dismantle it all just to save maybe 100g at best.

Have got a carbon post for my new Dolan though - £20 on the USE outlet store 🥰

I seem to recall one of the reasons I *did* buy the carbon post was to facilitate a Di2 battery but I could be misremembering. I know I spent an obscene amount on some frame plugs for the CAAD to permit me to install Di2, then promptly never did. Now I've got a 3D printer I probably would just produce them myself but that was several years ago in the beforetimes!

Bup labs stuff from the us / 3d printed I expect. Cost about £50 after taxes for 1 plastic plate to fill the hole under the bb, 2 rubber blanking grommets and 2 rubber mech wire grommets I think 🤬

The very same. It's all still BNIB as they say. Might stick it on eBay as a BiN and let it sit there for a couple of years until someone finds it and buys it 😉
