Hey folks

Going for a fortnights holiday in late April early May in Vancouver and BC.

What are the chances of me getting any decent biking in?

Or should I take a snowboard instead?

BTW don't have a snowboard ๐Ÿ™

Chances are good! Weather is starting to dry up, trails will be dry/wet/muddy depending upon the rain at the time. Most trails will be open, only the higher Whistler/Squamish trails will still have snow on them.

WHistler bike park doesn't open until mid-may though, you can check the date on their website.

Any suggestions as to where to go.

Was thinking some riding on Vancouver Island and maybe Kamloops

Not taking bikes so need places that do bike hire. A quick google suggest there is plenty of choice for mountain bike hire as the Canadians are all bike daft!

most north shore trails are good now except the very high ones, more than enough to keep you happy, there's a few places on the shore that will rent you bikes.

Low elevation is good to go. If you're more adventurous, there's lots of stuff that can be accessed with a short downhill push.

But yeah, we've had quite a winter this year.

3.5m snow base in Whistler right now. 40cms fresh last week.

Squamish is mostly open for a good pedal with the first XC and DH twoonie races tomorrow!

Do both - Blackcomb mountain will still be open, Whistler closes on the 25th Apr.

Squamish is ace. Had a great day riding there a few years back.

Wouldn't recommend Kamloops unless you know a local that can show you around OR you like huge dirt jumps (in which case consider the Kamloops Bike Ranch)
