can it?
other than just posts...but sumthing that u can search through when ur about to buy sumthing
a database more like.
search by colour, brand, etc.
a seperate forum would be a pain in the arse and no one would read it unless they had had something nicked.
it wouldnt give people in the area the heads up to keep thier eyes open....?
I was thinking that. I could probably offer an online database if that would help.
edit: ^^ beat me by a couple of seconds!
I started a blog for bike theft in my fair city, as it seems to have become a running joke in recent years.
http://www.stolenbristolbikes.com/
Easy to set up, free (mine's got a proper domain name which cost a few quid, but that was paid for by a local locksmith and MTBer), easy to update, visible on Google.
The rozzers and the local bike shops can check it along with any interested MTBers. A couple of people have been reunited with their bikes as a result, so it seems to work after a fashion.
There is actually a national database for stolen property at www.immobilise.com, but it's not searchable by the general public.
i have heard about ursite...i think its good
perhaps just a sticky would do then we can see when someone has posted by the counter feature, and people could post in the main forum if they spot said bike on the bay, maybe the first post could have the 5 best insurance deals m and s, ctc plus 5 best locks, just a suggestion
and im registered with immobilise too but thats not just bikes...
it needs a database with decent web front end to do searches and maybe email alerts on partial matches (php & mysql might do it)
should support individual and groups of components as well as whole bikes
sounds complex but an interesting project
