Probably a stupid question but can I? Will it work?
I need to buy a new groupset for my bike but planning to upgrade the frame at some point in the next year..

Buy a standard groupset. Unless you plan to run 2x and 3" tyres it'll likely work on your new frame too.

If your buying something like an Sram Eagle groupset, the 'standard' and 'boost' is done with the chainring offset. So dead easy to move from a non-boost to a boost frame.
