just noticed gear cables cracked and need some new brake blocks, i can stick with campag but wondering if their are any good alternatives.

Swissstop brake pads are widely accepted as the best.
Do you want complete pads or just cartridges ?
Cable wise The Campags are pretty good and can be had cheap enough on fleabay.
Keep in mind the pip on the end of the cables is a different size to Shimano
