Did anyone else receive a pre-order email for a Camino frame earlier today? And did it work? Link just takes me to the Alpkit front page, and frame is unable to be ordered from the Camino page when I navigate to it. Have they sold out already?

I’ve not had an email but interested when they do.

What size are most people going for? I’m 5 9” so could be a medium or a large and never sure what’s best.

I had an email on the 22nd of April saying the order book was open. For delivery from the 30th of May. May be sold out!

Edit - Just clicked on the link and all sold out except the Ti frame and fork.

5’9” and the medium is perfect for me.

5’10 and had a medium but then changed to large. Just to confuse you! Large spot on.

Only 20cm I think difference in reach between the two which is no more than slight stem length or saddle rail adjust. But for me it was the toe overlap justified the change. On medium with 175 cranks and mudguards couldn’t turn tightly and pedal the toe overlap that bad.

That’s the large.

20cm is quite a big jump between sizes, must be good for strava sections though as your garmin will get there about an hour before you.

I've just received a 2nd pushback on mine, mid July now. I suggest it might be a bit later..

Yeah...I think it's a bit of a guessing game to be honest with lead times. Don't want to criticise them too much as I totally appreciate it's a bit of an unknown/difficult to predict situation at the moment, but having kept an eye on stock for a number of weeks, I ordered mine within a couple of hours of them announcing they were back in stock on twitter a few weeks back thinking all was rosey, only to get an email a few days later saying they'd oversold 1x GRX so I wouldn't be getting it until September ( boo 🙁 ).

Have since had an email saying "actually, it'll be the end of May" (yay!), and an hour ago, "actually, it'll be early July" (wait...when now?).

I guess it'll turn up when it turns up!

I think the industry were expecting a delivery of Shimano components so that may be why the dates have been changing. Spoke to a guy in the LBS near my work and he said Madison were expecting a shipment soon, I guess if it's subsequently been delayed again they might have had to push dates back.

Arghh No ti in a large the other month when they went up full bike , now they have a large ti but I don’t think I’d be able to equip it for the price of the full bike

I've just taken delivery of an Evol and the projected delivery times were all over the shop as they managed to source the necessary parts.

Mine arrived earlier than expected as the forks arrived quicker than their ETA.

Alpkit were good in keeping me up to speed.

Email from Alpkit regarding frames:

Thanks for your email,

I'm afraid we only have an estimate at the moment, we have been informed they are hopefully arriving early next month after a delay in the frames from our factory.

We are just waiting on confirmation these have been shipped to get an accurate date for arrival.

My frame turned up last week and I've just finished building it up with the parts from my Space Chicken. Can't wait to ride it!

I got an email from alpkit the other day confirming the new frame comes with a full carbon fork (no aluminium steerer anymore)

I'm really tempted by this bike just trying to work out where it fits in my stable.

Dead tempted to pre order the black medium frame but finding a group set or even just hydraulic 105/ultecra/grx shifters will be the battle.

Ordered two in April. One Shimano for meself and a SRAM geared one got the missus. Email regretting on the Shimano one until Sept so I cancelled that one.
SRAM bike was due May then had email suggesting early July, it turned up last week. Wouldn’t like to tread the line between taking orders and promising delivery. Must be a nightmare situation for complete bike sellers.
Girlie is 5’7 and medium is spot on for her. At 5’10 it’s a decent fit for me, but large probably a better bet.

@cakefacesmallblock I'm 5'9 and was going to go for the medium, would you suggest going for a large frame instead?

@ogden I'm about your height and probably borderline medium/large.
I went with a medium and it feels about right, possibly a little short in the top tube but that could be overcome by running a longer stem. I'm running a layback post too (only because that's what I had in the parts box).

@ogden
Really think it’s a bit close to call. I’m old school and quite like not to be ‘over framed’ , med will be fine but if you ride a longer mountain bike, I’d go large. It would be easy to pop too long a stem on and perhaps spoil what seems like a nice ride.

I ride a medium long am9 but on the other hand I ride a medium 2016 giant defy which is smaller than the Camino by a bit 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’m sure I’d probably be right on either.

Anyone put 2x onto the latest (V2) Camino Ti yet?

I've seen it on the V1 but wondered if it's doable. Got a GRX 2x groupo sat waiting.

Went down the 1x avenue but not for me.

That's probably a v2 - the originals had stripes in some areas

This is my 2017 v1

@stumpy_m4 - have you discussed this with them?

Their Customer Service is usually fantastic but something has clearly gone wrong here.

I’ve been chatting to them and will be putting a deposit down, but have been told that for a Ti 2xGRX to be waiting until early next year

That'll be the GRXs fault more than the frame

@ElShalimo

Never seem to have live chat switched on, flip a coin to see if the phones are connected and don't hold your breath waiting for an email reply.

My recent order started well but soon became a ball ache.

So I put an order in for a Medium Black Camino frame. I was expecting the pre order date to be off so I sent them an an email this morning and got a response half an hour ago - its was in promotions(Gmail) not primary inbox.

To be truthful - it's not very accurate. We're experiencing delays and I believe since this morning we're now looking toward the end of July.

Its what I expected and I'm not gonna start looking for parts until the frame arrives anyway.

I've received another pushback now too. Think that's the third. Wondering whether to stick or twist. It'll be Autumn/Winter before I see it..

I've been asking about frame only. Got this reply

I'd say very early August - they were due in this week but have been set back to late July. Framesets should be a pretty quick turnaround once they're with us.

I don't know if you guys are aware but there a quite a few Camino's on the 'bay. Included some theoretically new framesets. I haven't looked closely at them to see if they are legit, because I'm not in the market for one, but if you want one it might be worth a look.

The person selling the XL one with the slightly aggressive description? Frame and fork only £150 more than new with no warranty?
