Mine was due early July still have not heard anything but since I can't get half the components I want for it I'm not really stressing about it. I've gone for the new sage coulour which looks ace.

The frames arrived with them last Wednesday. I was told mine was gonna ship Thursday or Friday last week, however, yesterday I was told it would likely ship today.

Similar to above, I've not got much in the way of parts yet so I'm not stressing over it.

The one I want has just been pushed back to July, I was meant to put a deposit in last month for Feb delivery but didn’t get around to it

Just taken delivery of a Camino frame and the fork is a completely different shade of black to the frame, anyone else had this issue?

Is it a full carbon fork? No Alliminium steerer?

As per above V3 should come with full carbon fork and 3 bolts and mudguard mounts that was on the ti version of the camino.

I guess it didn't matter matching black with a ti frame but a black frame needs to match a black fork!

@ogden
That's not on, the frame is Charcoal and the fork is gloss black.

Send it back.

I've bought a black one and if it arrives like that, which its due to in the nest few days then it's going back 5 months wait or not.

WTF Alpkit?

Charcoal is grey and black is....well, black. Two different colours & that's exactly what that frameset I'd 🤷‍♂️

Of all the frame/fork colour combos out there, charcoal frame and black fork isn't the worst. If they get returned frames and stick them on the website, and are upfront about the colours, I reckon they'd sell well at RRP anyway. I get it that if you thought they'd be "book matched" it's a bit disappointing but theyre still good value, and well-featured frame and forks. I'd keep it if were me, and maybe ask for a partial refund/voucher to address my disappointment. I think that'd help me forget it once I started riding it...

EDIT: just looked at the picture on the website, enlarged it and think it looks (to me) like a charcoal frame and black fork? Also, fork described as "carbon bladed" which I thought typically meant alu steerer...

For £300 your getting a great frame and fork. The fork is an upgrade, it's full carbon with mounting points. During a time with low stock for £300 if you send it back it will get resold straight away.

I suspect due to covid they did everything via zoom with translators so mistakes can happen. It's understandable.

As above,  it wouldn't bother me if Alpkit acknowledged it and maybe offered me some credit to spend in store as a friendly gesture. Once it's covered in some fork bags you won't notice it.

If I had bought a green frame Id like the fork to match, which it will.

If I buy a black frame I'd rather it matched too. I don't think that's unreasonable.

It looks like a cost cutting measure, banking on most folk will just accept it given the current circumstances.

That's a bit disappointing, especially if you've spent £1300 on a bike...

My Camino Ti Frameset arrived yesterday. I am stunned. Wasn't sure what to expect from the 'budget' price. I'd seen the photos but in hand the welds, finish and craftsmanship are top quality. I have some background in the cycling industry and have seen some okay and ropey Ti frames, cracks, spluttery welds, poor alignment etc. This is the best one I've seen so far.

I had a couple of queries on live chat and never waited more than 4 minutes for full replies.

Can't fault Alpkit/Sonder for service and delivery on time.

Looks like they might have changed the forks entirely to be honest. The pictures of built caminos on the alpkit website look to me like they’ve got much straighter forks, but if you look at the frame set pictures they look more tapered, and seem to angle forward toward the axle end.

My build has been delayed again until the end of the month, but I’ll be a bit disappointed if it’s the latter “new” forks as I much prefer the straighter version, and I’m not really fussed about the additional mount. I know there’s a shortage but if this is the case, it would have been much better to advertise the built up pictures with the actual forks they were going to be shipped with, no?

I also could be completely wrong!

I’m not saying it’s not a great frame for a great price or that alpkit don’t have good customer service. I don’t think it’s too much to expect the frame and fork to be painted the same colour though.

I’ve sent them an email so I’ll see what they say.

My Camino frame arrived this week. Medium Black - the frame and fork are matching 'charcoal grey'. Looks a fantastic frame, very happy - I need to find some bits to turn it into a bike now. The only thing wrong is the graphics on the seat-tube says "onderbikes.com" but I expect I will get over this.

Onderbikes.com?!

Wtf?

Sounds like they haven't checked them before shipping!

Onderbikes.com

Non matching forks

Sending out the wrong frames

These are all issues planet x get a bashing for but throughout the Pandemic they seem to be the only bike shop who have consistently had stock and they had very little negative comments on here.

I have a friend who manages the furniture department at a garden centre. They have noticed a marked increase in quality control issues. The issue seems to come down to the fact that since the pandemic began the suppliers who get most of their products from China haven't been able to send their reps out who visit the factories and do quality checks before things get shipped.

Onderbikes.com?!

It's difficult to tell from the spacing - my assumption is the 'S' stayed on the decal backing, rather than the all the decals being wrong. It is only the 5mm lettering, so not a big issue. Curious to know if it's just me. The easiest resolution maybe if I just register the domain.

@ab1970 any chance you could post a picture of the frame and fork matching?

@ab1970 does your fork have an aluminium steerer or carbon steerer?

I wonder if some are v2 forks and some are V3 forks?

The fork has a carbon steerer, and was supplied with a star-nut also, which I probably won't fit.

Edit: trying to work out how to share photos

Yours definitely looks matched to the frame. I’d say I’d assume that they sent me the wrong one but the ti fork is a matte carbon finish so I’m not sure how they could of 🤷🏻‍♂️

Sent them a message with the pictures of my forks and the pic @ab1970 provided on their online chat and The lady seemed to think it must have been a picking error and is going to look into it for me. Bit annoying but I haven't got much in the way of parts yet so its not an issue really.

I had a blue camino delivered last week - full carbon fork colour matched to the frame - all looks good.

It also has the "onderbikes" mistake - so its probably the whole batch - but it's on the back of the seat tube so no big deal -
I got a "do not use" message from Alpkit about the starnut before the frame turned up and an offer to provide a bung / plug if I needed one.

Mine came with the bung and not a star nut.

Another onderbikes.com as well! haha

Confirmed they sent me the wrong one and they are sending the correct one today.

Interested to know what spec everyone is going for parts wise for the frame only in the current parts climate?

@ogden

Are they even checking what's going out the door?

I'm due to get mine next week. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they sharpen up a bit.

Wow, anyone else and they would be getting a forum bashing for all these mistakes! I guess they have been pretty good until now so maybe have some good grace left?

I'm gonna make an assumption that someone in the factory picking thought they were the correct forks and that how I've ended up with two incorrect ones. I've got 6-8 weeks for my Light Bicycle rims to arrive anyway and I still need to get most the other parts together so whilst its annoying its not the end of the world. Had I had everything else waiting for the frame I'd maybe be raging a bit more. Add to that they have been prompt and polite on the chat.

How do you all know when your frames/ bikes are coming? I’ve had no comms at all. I think the ETA was 9th June when I ordered…

If you get on live chat during the day they’ll let you know, the comms through the chat is pretty good; otherwise it’s wait for a parcelforce/alpkit email
