Just want to confirm but am I right in believing the front calliper is no different to the rear, or is the angle of the hydraulic connection slightly different ?

If the angle is different it's because it's adjustable, so you're correct (edit, unless there's some odd specc'ing going on)

Hi. The same just fittings different for mounts.on low end callipers hose usually screws into it. On high end callipers mostly the hose connects via a banjo bolt system.

Yep, the exit angle of a non-banjo bolted hose might be an issue, but otherwise hose length and whether the lever is designed to run one way up or not is the main defining point with a disc calliper being 'front' or 'rear'. It's not uncommon for Shimano OE units to be imported in bulk and have the levers swapped prior to being sold without boxes as OE bagged imports, for example. In Shimano land anything from SLX up tends to have banjos.
