[#6251146]

I have been having massive trouble with changing my rear rubber. The only rubber I can get to fit is the ones it came with.

So my question my wheel and tyre are not central in the bottom arch around the bottom pivot. Are yours like this?

I am trying to fit Sp purgatory a in 2.3 so not a massive tyre

Meant to be I've seen this on other bikes with similar pivot set ups. Spesh tyres I don't know about ,Schwalbes aren't undersized like Maxxis and 2.25 fits with space ,I'll post you a PIC of mine if you wish?

Had a WTB Bronson 2.2 in mine over the winter an now got a Maxxis Crossmax for the dry dusty summer. Not a lot of room around the chainstays/pivot

Ive found that I cant fit many tyres larger than 2.2 - even smaller tyres have terrible mud clearance.

The rear is utterly rubbish for tyre clearance - I thought it was a fault and took it back to the shop. It is the only thing that I am not happy about with the bike, but to the extent that I think I will wind up changing the frame at some stage.

Anyway... I have had success with the following:

On-One Smorgasboard 2.25
Schwalbe Nobby Nic 2.25
Bontrager 2-3

The Smorgasboard is on a re-dished wheel that sticks the tread right into the centre of the stays, I don't think I have tried it with a standard wheel....

The Bontragers came off a Trek hardtail so aren't the posh itteration, but they do seem a nice high volume tyre. Thinking of getting some more upmarket versions for the summer as I am not entirely impressed with the Nobby Nics that have been on the bike for months.

I've had one for about 3 months now, and as said above the only thing I'm not happy with is the rear mud clearance - this never gets a mention in any of the hyped up "trail bike of the year" propaganda.
More than once on muddy rides I've had a stone get stuck inside the swing arm between the tyre and it's now worn down to the casing. I wasn't planning to replace it with anything that had bigger than the original "2.2" as even the original only has about 1/8" clearance.

Ye it sucks. I doubt I would get very far if I asked whyte to fix it.
I don't understand why they did not offset the rim a touch. Has anyone done that with the oem wheels?
