I bent the axle on my RHS Nano a while ago on a big ol rock and i'm finally getting round to replacing it. Had a look on the SuperStar site and they sell single steel ones but would a Ti axle be stronger? Not bothered about the weight saving but if ti was less likely to bend then i would consider it. Any thoughts/experience of ti axles and how tough they are?
Well, my consumer test is I've never bent a steel axle'd pedal, but I've bent every single ti axle'd pedal I've had (6 pedals, 3 sets).
So no, in my case it's a nice weight saving but they are a bit bendtastic 🙂
It won't be stronger. If I'd bent an axle I wouldn't be looking to swap it to Ti!
That's fairly conclusive Hob Nob. I'll stick with steel. Cheers chaps.
I've had Ti axles in both my CB spd's and flats, neither have bent and the flats have had Ti axles for 5 years and still working fine, the 3 sets of CB pedals have collapsed though.
