It took us 2 days, not going hell-for leather by any stretch, but carrying very little as we stayed in B&Bs.

Panniers might be lame and make your bike handle and look pants, but it's much better than having the weight on your body.

Are we talking about the road or sustrans C2C, or the off road one?
Jackthedog - if you did the offroad one in two days I take my hat off to you!

If you can go super lightweight and keep as much weight and bulk off your back as you can, you'll have a much nicer time. Especially in summer. I doubt you'll need panniers full of kit for two days. Sleeping bag & rollmate bungeed under bars, tent or tarp rolled and bungeed under saddle etc.

i've walked for 2 days and bivvi'd for one night with a 30 ltr innov8 bag including a big 4 season down bag, stove, food etc. Pretty sure I could do the same for a few nights. Maybe a big saddle bag would be a good idea... ?

Sustrans C2C, 5 days (summer holiday never done a long ride before, in fact the first day was the longest ride I had ever done, double my other half longest ride) with this kit including all our camping stuff. Travelled for comfort, not speed.
