I would like a more modern Van as my Astravan isn't big enough.

willing to spend 5-9K on one BUT do I:

A. Save up for the rest of my life. (realistically till this time next year)

B. Van finance

C. Bank loan?

Fed up of looking and comparing with my current balance 🙁

If it makes any odds Its not a work van either, I'm 21 and single and need something tidy enough to pick up the odd female in. Chicks don't dig smokey old transits apparently. 🙁

Cash is king... don't spend what you haven't got.

Buy a van for £2k and stop chasing girls who care what your car looks like.

Similar situation - commercial insurance quotes seem to be a lot cheaper than standard.

Ebay - Mercedes Vito 5k would get you a pretty decent one my budget is 3k and been quite suprised what you can get for the money - planning on sleeping in back or using it as a camper?

haha, RE: the chicks, I'm only thinking logically!

cheers for the input though!

Wouldn't convert it fully as its a bit small, but would sleep in it rough now n again as i do a fair bit of travelling through Autograss as well as bikes.

depends how big your going.. can pick up a 35-40k miles dispatch for sub 4grand if your willing to haggle using cash.

itll be up as 4k + vat i bet but if you walk in with cash a deal will be struck - i know i did for mine was up for 3995 + vat at a dealer who did mostly cars. offered him 3500 cash no vat - came back at 3750.

- based on looking in glasgow area for a mates new business van last week.

Bugger. Actually mine isn't smokey, just rusty, maybe that'll be alright.

And this is right too.
.
At £2k you are at the banger end of the van market, much easier to get god cars for that money than good vans. However, they are out there, took me three months of looking at junk before I got one at about that price. Also once you've had a Transit sized van you'll wonder how you ever managed without one.
.
Also, if you don't live near London go to London to look at some. The silly rules about congestion charges mean some are horribly expensive to drive in the centre, hence very cheap to buy aas the market is flooded with them (tend to be the older ones though) And not a good if you live near London as you'll end up paying the charge when you use it.

Vivaros are great vans have a LWB.Not that keen on Vitos have driven them at work.If you get a SWB then the Transit is the biggest of your 3.VWs are nice but cant get much in them.

planning on sleeping in back

think he's planning on staying awake in the back 😉

If you think its going to take time to save money....... An astra van is pretty much the cheapest way you can buy a vehicle and travel between two points, especially the DTI. You won't get any other van that is nearly as cheap to run so if saving money is an issue now.... having any money at all is going to be an issue with a bigger van. Parts, fuel, everything is roughly double the price in my Sprinter compared to what it costs for my Astra.

look privately or otherwise your looking at a lot of Vat.

Private sale or Dealer sale makes no difference whatsoever to the VAT situation on used commercials.

It is dependant on wether the previous owners (all of them) have been VAT registered of not.

If Any previous owner Wasn't VAT Registered, then you won't pay VAT on the Van.

Otherwise, you Will.

I'd say get a vw t5. They are great, I brought a panel van and had side windows fitted, made a stand for the bike, fitted rear seats. It's great now I love it 🙂 comfy to drive to

I am also 21 and have just got a 58 plate Citroen Dispatch long wheel base high top van in silver. comes with in your budget and you would get a lot more van over a T5 as your not paying for the badge. Mine only had 25k on the clock and falls near the top end of your budget. Currently having the bumpers colour matched and some 17s fitted. I payed a good lump sum up front and the rest on a 2 year easy loan with my bank. Interest rate was low and very flexible. Great fun and looks smart.
