Hi all,
I currently have a specialized rockhopper and a Giant Trance and was thinking of ditching both to go to a steel hard tail such as Cotic Bfe etc as I'm a big lad.
However my head has been turned onto setting a goal to take part (not compete) in next years Mega, however I'm torn because for that I'm gonna have to get a bigger full suss which goes against what I was planning and I can't really afford multiple bikes.
One option I'm thinking would be to get something older and cheap full suss such as a spesh enduro or anything else anyone can recommend. Just has to be cheaply available and up to the job. I could then maybe sell the frame and keep the parts to shove on a Bfe after the event for normal use?

Any advice experiences much appreciated.

I would think Spesh Enduro's will hold their value quite well even older ones.

I picked up an ex-demo Mongoose Khyber for £600 which I took to Mega this year. Its now sold though cos it is just too much and too heavy for the UK to be enjoyable.

I'd be thinking of the less popular brands...didn't Iron Horse do a single pivot DH bike a few years ago? Yakuzi? Or again a Mongoose Khyber, Pinn'r, Foreman etc? There must be others.

I did see some shorter travel bikes go past in higher finals than what I got into. Some one was in fact on a Trance, so its not all about the travel clearly 😉
