Just wondered if anyone has one/knows much about them? Thought it might be a good sub £600 option for occasional riding (nothing serious).
To be honest that's exactly what it was designed for. Though like most mountain bikes, they are capable of far more than what the designers actually specced them for!
There will probably be just as capable bikes available for a similar budget but it won't be a bad choice of bike for sure.
See what other offerings appear on this thread later this morning too, for even more choice! 😃

Both better spec'd, good reviews and slightly less.
You won't go wrong with it, although I find decathlon's MTB range to be a bit un-inspired relative to their road stuff. The boardman line at Halfords are more popular and probably a bit better, so maybe have a look at them around that price - there's prob not a lot in it.
Incoming rant about decathlon:
The bikes aren't bad, however the stores and way the set them up is outright murderous. This was a couple of years ago, before I knew anything about bikes.
Bought from them a mountain bike, in which they performed a check, and mechanic says everything is set up, no need to do anything just go and ride. Get to the top of the mountain, and realise the stem is not tight enough, and the top cap is not tight enough either, meaning I have no steering....
Bought a road bike from them, pedalling slowly downhill, chain falls from the front chainring, I lose balance, resulting in left elbow and knee bloodied up. Good thing I was in a cycle lane.
Other issues with decathlon include not setting up brakes properly or trying to make me pay for a replacement hub, even though their webpage is plagued with complaints about their wheel hubs, something that the reviewer from bikeradar also noticed....
Aaaaand for balance.
Bought a £500 quid Rockrider maybe 8 years ago or so. Tight as a drum out of the shop and a great bike. Coped with everything I threw at it and went way beyond its remit. Only thing I would have changed was that it was very XC focussed and could have been a bit more relaxed. Saying that it meant it munched the miles and was light enough to race imo. Only thing I changed were the tyres which were some rubbish btwin own brand efforts.
