I've borked the quick release on my front wheel by over tightening it. In my defense, I have to have it really tight as it's a dynamo hub and the connector starts to rotate if it's anything less than very solid.
I can open the lever and the cam mechanism still works, but the skewer just seems to rotate even when I grip the opposite nut with pliers. Somefink is bust somewhere.
Any suggestions on how to get my wheel off? The forks have got safety lips on them so the wheel is just sat in them loose. The skewer is a cheapish Shimano one with a nylon nut cover but presumably a metal nut underneath.
Only thing I can think is the actual "nut" is rotating in the plastic housing, had it happen on a QR here and there. Try something with more force to grip it with like molegrips?
What make of QR is it?
I had one that did this many years ago (some random brand that I can't remember) and I found that pulling on the QR lever and rotating it unscrewed the whole QR head.

I had this issue with an SP hub (actually an Exposure Revo). It was due to the 15mm/QR adapter being just a smidge too long. The forks just clamped on the adapter, hence the hub rotating. I attacked the adapter with a file and it's been right since/
