Just riding up in the lakes at whinlatter this weekend and my brothers BMC trailfox frame snapped on the downtube as well as bending and nearly snapping on the top tube. It's a clean break straight through right where it's been welded to the rear shock and he has phoned Evans cycles where he bought the bike from just over 2 years ago and thankfully they said it shouldn't be a problem to replace as it's a 3 year warranty on the frame. They also said they have had this same breakage on these frames several times. My brother has understandably lost confidence in the bike and a straight swap is ok but he'd be worried about it happening again.
Any advice on what steps he should take? Do you think it's possible to get a full refund or store credit? Any advice will be very welcome, cheers.
Very doubtful on a refund, take the new frame/bike and sell it if he really can't face riding it.
Evans gave me a choice of frames when my old commencal frame snapped after I explained I'd lost confidence in it.
