Managed to crack the screen on my Edge 800 in a crash yesterday.
£75 for Garmin to swap it for a refurbished unit which seems reasonable.
However I can pick up a replacement screen on eBay for £30.
Has anyone done a DIY repair themselves and was it easy?
I did my own battery on my 305 and that was a PITA, I'd happily pay someone else to do it.
I replaced the battery on my 705 and it was a doddle. However, the "refurb" could also actually be a brand new unit so you pays yer money....
How bad is the crack?
I've a small one in mine and just stuck a screen protector over it and carried on.
Crack is pretty bad. Cracks actually. 6 spreading from the point of impact.
I sent a broken Edge 305 back to Garmin a few years ago and as you say the one they sent back looked brand new.
Might have a play at taking the broken screen off later. If it seems easy I'll just buy a new screen. If not I'll stick it back together and return it to Garmin.
