Bit of a wierd one.
I have a 10 speed Sram set up. 1031 chain.
New 2 months ago, ridden maybe 300 miles. Been lubed regularly.
Today it broke, no problem I'll put on a new link. Did that, then 10 miles later it breaks again.
Then I noticed that about 7-8 of the links have breaks in them. Cracks that go the full width of the outer chain segment (the fig 8 piece). Just waiting to fail completely. So it would now easily break in 7-8 places. Great. Took it to the shop at Whinlatter and mechanic said send it back to shop I purchased it from.
Anyone else had a similar experience? Seems a bit odd to me to be broken in so many places.
Could just be a wrong 'un. It happens. Do you shift under load?
Yeah, I'll send it back. Cheers.
I do shift under "gentle" load sometimes, but never had any problems like this before.
I had similar on a SRAM chain - it was 9-speed and a few years ago. If you ride a Commencal though, and it's just your chain snapping, you're doing quite well...
