Just pulled my daughter’s 🍊 Clockwork from the back of the garage where it has been gathering dust since last summer.
Both brakes appear to be locked on. Full effort to push it down the drive, tho the wheels do turn albeit v slowly. Very little play in the levers.
Avid Elixir-1 btw.
Any easy fix or should I drop off at LBS?
Gotta be in need of a bleed.
The air has expanded in the heat and squeezed the brakes on, surely...
Use a screwdriver to prise apart the pads. Then Id remove the pads, lube the pistons and seals and then reassemble. See if that works. If not LBS.
My first guess would be the levers have seized, second that the pistons have seized in the master cylinders. I'm not familiar with Avids, but there will be some way of removing the levers, so remove those and see if the brakes release. If they don't, try carefully levering the pads apart with a flat bladed screwdriver. This should force the master cylinder pistons back and hopefully free them up. You need to do this with the reservoir open so excess fluid can escape.
its a thing avids do , have done since the dawn of time.
a bleed will sort it
short term you can open the bleed port and push the pistons back.
