I'm going to be needing some new pads for my front brake very soon but looking on CRC I'm a little lost as too what to order! My brakes are Avid Elixir 3 jobs but what pads do I want? Sintered or Ceramic? Trail, Enduro or downhill and should I go for Avids own pads or maybe Goodridge or Nuekproof?

Am I asking way to many questions and should I just order the cheapest its not like I use my brakes ๐Ÿ˜€

If you are prepared to bed them in sufficiently (15-20 hard stops from speed) I would just get some from Superstar components.
They are really cheap, but work just as well as Avid ones in my experience.
There were some stories of poor quality several years ago, but that seems to have died down.
I've used them for probably 4 years or more and not had a problem.

If your local riding is quite gritty & grindy, probably best to go for sintered which will last well. They tend to squeal a bit in the wet though.
Otherwise just go for the normal organic ones.

I've got Superstar organic pads on Elixir R's and they're perfect and completely stopped any annoying brake noise. If you're not sure which type to get they're cheap enough to buy all three compounds to try out.

I've used superstar for a couple of years but the last set were about 1-2mm too small, even compared to the last set, and their own springs wouldn't fit in the pads without bending them in, which puts me off a bit for the future.

superstar organic in my juicy 7's. Work a treat! sintered are good as well, not quite the same bite and ultimate power as organic, and they're noisier than organic, but longer lasting.
