Hi,
A friend is trying to fit some dic brakes to an old set of Junior T triple clamp forks. The forks =have a 20mm axle held in place by allen keys and holes that look like IS brake mounts but are actually too close together.
Does anyone know about fitting an IS brake to these forks, van a bracket of some sort be purchased?
Marzocchi only did IS and PM. What brake caliper are you trying to fit?
Definatley not IS or PM. Not sure what brake he is trying to fit but something fairly standard, Shimano or similar.
Just to be clear this is not an IS mount, holes are closer together.
I seem to remember some of the zocchi DH forks had a different mount. Can't find owt on teh net tho
When did the Jnr T come out? 1999 or 2000? It was QR axle then and went to 20mm around 2003, with pinch bolts, rather than clamps, from 2005 (I think). IS mounts were still being used until at least 2006, even on the triple-clamps models. The only funky brake mounts I've known Marz' to use were an old Hope C2, but that had its own mount on the RH leg (as well as the IS on the LH leg). That was Z-series forks, though; not Jr T. I'm not purporting to be correct here, just very curious as to what you have. Any chance of some pics?
I have some jnr T 03 which are IS mount, and i used a hope no3 brake caliper which fits straight on with 185mm disc.
Ah turns out whilst I was right in saying they are not IS there are a few corrections to what I did say, there are no allen bolts, just the QR skewer inside a 20mm axle, the whole lot goes into the bottom of the forks similar to a normal QR hub and is held in place by the QR skewer alone.
Also, as you can see from the picture it doesn't look like an IS mount, it's like a Post Mount with no raised bosses. The holes are about 25mm apart and are M5 threads (could be 1" apart as that is 25.4mm).
Any ideas on a mount for IS brake?
Edit: hang on, is this what is needed? Curved plate looks about right though description refers to a different fork:
