Just bought soem used 2007 Hope Mini's, went to put them on my bars but even if I tighten them all the way they are still too big for the bars. Are they suppose to come with some sore of shim, I can only assum ethe previous owner must have been using oversized bars.

Any opinons/advice would be welcome on how I get them to fit propertly...

Unless they've been bodgered they're a standard size, they should fit any normal bars.Do the clamping areas look like they've been machined? Are your bars undersized? Are the bolts too long(bottoming out before they tighten the clamp)?
If they're only fractionally loose you could try shimming them with strips of Coke can.

Oversize bars are only oversize on at the stem clamp area. 31.8mm and 25.4mm bars both narrow at the grip/brake/gear lever area (maybe to 22.2mm? (BMX bar size))

So its not that

Ihave tightened them as much as they will go and they are still loose, clamps don't look like they have been touched, I am looking to put them on some ec70 flat bars, it is a little perplexing....

Are the clamps still loose when you tighten them off the bike?
