I haven't been to BPW for about a year. Last time I was there they were struggling to fit people buying one off uplifts.
I know there were some changes planned for this year, is it worth turning up on a weekend without prebooked uplift?
My mate will be on a DH bike, so riding up isn't really an option
There were some aborted plans to offer half-day tickets on a first come, first served basis, IMHO the plan had some merits, but negatives out weighed them, anyway, moot point, they scraped them.
System remains the same, buy 'singles' in the shop for £4 a go (maybe £5, prices change all the time) buy as many as you like in advance and queue up in the right hand lane and hope for the best.
I live fairly local, I've only booked a full day 2/3 times since they opened, it doesn't suit me and I rarely know I can make it 3 weeks in advance let alone 3 months! So I just roll up on 'singles'.
In the last 5/6 trips I've missed about 1 bus a day, no one will believe me, but it's the truth. The drivers generally allow 2 to 4 places per bus for single riders, although they don't advertise it as such, it's easier if you're on your own or in pairs as there's usually a few left over spaces, you just have to be on the ball if they call out for them.
The 'trick' is perhaps not to do full runs, once you learn the lay of the land it's easy to be more efficient how you do it, loads of riders will hang around in the mid-section, some of the best runs are there and it's a short walk/chat back, it's the top section and bottom section it's more of a grind.
