I can get a pair dirt cheap, 2010, in good working order from a trusted friend.

I'm going to be building up a DH bike over the next year but before I do, I'm off on out to the Alps. So I figure why not pick the forks up cheap whilst I can.

Now a 180mm Fox 36/Totem has a 565 mm axle to crown length, whilst the boxxer has 568mm at 200mm. So if your running 25 percent sag it should actually run a bit lower than the Fox.

So the question is, should I pikey it up big time and put them on my Nukeproof Mega before I go out if I do get them? I love the steering stiffness of dual crowns and rather like the idea of a proper mini-dh bike (as in the steering stiffness of a dh bike combined with the pop of a short travel bike, I don't get 180mm single crowns). I'd swap em over to a Scalp dh bike once I had it, although finding a way to shorten them to 180mm appeals to me? Anyone know how?

I don't think you can lower Boxxers like you can with 40s.

I guess you could overfill them with oil, which would effectively reduce the travel, but not sure that's such a good idea.
