Hi
I have bought a MTB Frame that (according to the spec) has an 68mm English thread BB.

I have a Raceface X-Type all mountain/xc bb that says it is for 68mm shells, but it will not fit! it will go on about 1 turn, but thats it. I think the thread pitch is wrong?

I also have a raceface atlas all mounting crank arms/chainset that I want to use.

so my question really is, is the BB cups wrong? and what bb cups can i get to fit both the frame and the raceface atlas chainset?

I hope someone can give me some advise!
thanks

You sure you're putting the correct cup in the correct side?

What frame?
New or second hand?
Silly question but you are definitely turning the bb the right way?
and what Steve says

Get the threads chased. Should go in by hand and be nipped up with the bb tool

It's a new cheap unbranded carbon frame from seller bikebicycle99 on ebay!
thread in the frame looks good so does the thread on the BB cups.

yes I have checked the cups side and direction (luckily it is printed on them!)

they start, but only for about 1 turn then feel like they are cross threading.

Don't go any further. Let someone who knows what they are looking at look at it or a lbs will prob fit it for very little. You dont want to bugger up your new frame. It may just be the thread lock on the new bb cups. They can be quite tight first fit but without feeling it myself I wouldn't want to say keep turning.
