Please excuse my ignorance here, but i need some help.
I removed my old bottom bracket from my bike today as its dead. Its from the old shimano hollowtech XT system (6/7 years old)

the chap in my local shop reckons i cant get these anymore. I cant really afford a whole new crank set. so, if i type down whats written on my bottom bracket would anyone be able to help with suggestions. please bear in mind i dont have alot of money so i cant spend a huge sum on a new BB.

(sealed cartridge unit)
Shimano
BB-ES71
68
BC1.37x24
Japan

L <- 113 -> R

i dont really know what any of that means so any help gratefully recieved

Thanks

Ben

I think who ever told you there not available is telling porky pies.. or at least pushing the boundries of truth, in that the XT version may have been fazed out but other shimano replacements such as the ES51 are available..

Hollowtech I cranks use a shimano's octalink BB's, so any of 68mm's wide with a 113mm axle will work, going from your spec's above.

This is what you want, it's the top one, 68-113mm.

The cheaper 51 replaced the 71 some time ago.

PS Crystal Palace 3rd!
