Yes, I’ve done a search but can’t find this anywhere! I remember some discussion about bicycle shops in The Cairngorms and the mention of Bothy Bikes - I think people thought it had shut down.

However, we were driving through Kingussie in the motorhome on Saturday and my wife noticed a fatbike leaning up outside a shop, it would appear that she does listen to me, I’ll have to be careful!

We parked in the community car park, free but donations welcome, and I wandered down the street to the re-located Bothy Bikes. What a lovely shop and a lovely man behind the counter -David.

We had a nice chat and I emerged clutching a pair of Surly 26” x 4.8 tyres. If you’re in the area call in and say “hello”, I always find that parts and clothing bought on holiday are “special”, like useful souvenirs!

I don't think anyone on here thought it shut down as I've always mentioned it, good shop and David is very knowledgable about the trails/hills etc. Bought a number of bikes from them from genesis singe speeds to Scott e-genius.

I used to go up to aviemore every year since the early 90's with parents for a family holiday with my mtb's, remember when David had a wee shed/hut as he started bothy bikes next to cairngorm hotel in mid/late 90's (?), not been back unfortunately since 2018 due to dad suddenly dying that year and my now rapidly advancing spms confining me to house/biking just a memory.

Are you aware David used to be a member of a seminal Scottish band?, and also played with "The Pastels"? (Kurt Cobain liked them)

@somafunk thank you for that link, yes I did spot him. STW the source of all knowledge!

I’m sorry to hear of your poor health but I hope it revived some memories.

It was the shop the other side of the road which closed, the name of which I have forgotten

The Wee Bike Hub.

It was set by  the guy who had his premises at Laggan Wolftrax  raided and stock stolen. IIRC he has since gone into property management.

I vaguely recall some confusion after the Rothiemurchus shop closed. Which was swiftly cleared up between either you or scotroutes.
