[Closed] Boost... am I making more of it than I should be?

My search for a new bike has been possibly derailed a bit, I was/am kind of set on a Trek Fuel EX, but then saw the new Nukeproof Mega which I *think* isn't a Boost wheel spaced bike. Being a larger gentleman I had put Boost as a "must have" spec.

But that green Mega 290....

Am I right to be so fixated on the wider hubs to combat flex? Does it really make that much of a difference? Should I save a few hundred quids worth of finance and stop worrying about trivial stuff.

The Fuel is probably still the front runner, it kinda makes more sense as the type of bike I would be able to make use of. The Mega is more bike than I really need... but it looks so pretty!

Unless I see something else between now and D Day that is!

It does help a bit, but more to the point you will be limited on wheel, fork, crank etc choices in a few years if you don't have boost.

I was going to add that - it is a part of my thought process too. I want to future proof as much as I can, money is tight and I can't chop and change all that often! I also like the idea of a 27.5"/29" compatible bike so I can have 2 different characteristics for the price of one (and a spare set of wheels!).

Options that allow this are pretty thin on the ground, so I am looking at straight 29ers too (much more reluctant to consider a straight 27.5"+ machine - I know I like 29ers, less sure about the semi-fat)
