I recently picked up a jump bike, but the splines on the cranks have completely worn away so a replacement is needed.
I'm guessing the cranks are standard BMX cranks and can be replaced with any 2/3 piece set?
The bike doesn't get used a huge amount so replacement has to be cheap. Would I be a fool to look at 2nd hand? Any cheap cranksets that come recommended?

If it's a standard threaded BB rather than a BMX press in one then I'd just get cheap Deore cranks, or Zee if you're feeling flush. they'll be mor than strong enough for moderate jumping. You only really need Cr-Mo cranks if you're going big and intend to cash or land on the flat a lot.

If the Current BB is in good condition then you could swap the cranks for new ones, IIRC the spindle will be one of two sizes 19mm or 24mm, so just match that and buy a bag of shims to make it fit. But Cr-Mo cranks are usualy £130 and up.
