I'm after a trail/do everything bike for around 1.5-2.2k and after a few weeks of research I've come across the BMC speedfox sfo2 advertised by Evans for 1.6k. It seems like really good value and the weight and specs are spot on! Having very little insight into BMC as a company however I am a little nervous about pulling the trigger. Is there anything about this bikeI should be worried about? Is it a decent bike?

Other bikes on my list include:
Whyte T129s 2014 (eagerly anticipating this!)
Lapierre x-flow 412 (can't find a review of this, looks amazing though)
Scott Genius 940
Canyon nerve al 8.0

The mag gave it a good write-up some months ago, kinda 4.5 / 5 level. Prices have been dropping for a while, pretty good bargain now - I'd snap one up despite being skint if they had 'L' in 2011's SF01 colours...

That'll be tomorrows niggling thoughts taken care of! ๐Ÿ™‚

Which mag review is that? The only one I've seen is of the 2011 version ๐Ÿ™
Yea cheap shit is what I was worried about with an unknown brand like BMC, but The Swiss do everything well don't they?

Which mag review

In STW, but would've been an earlier version (I presume broadly the same bike...). When I enquired with Evans store they were ok to bring one in to try if they didn't have the right size, handy enough if there's a shop close by.

I couldn't buy any product so badly named.

Though I hear their "Quickbaboon" is excellent.

Sorry?

The one that I heard when asked about their mountain bikes was they make nice road bikes....
One local is on another model, he now has the carbon frame as the 4 previous alloy ones all snapped in different places.

While their mountain bikes aren't well known, they have appeared in the press a fair bit over the last couple of years (I'm sure WMB had a Trailfox long termer?), BMC still isn't exactly an obscure brand.
