How do these compare? Anyone ridden all of them or at least two?
Lets have your opinions on these for riding in the UK - cheers ๐
We've got a shop demo LT and LTC. Back to back riding of them is very similar although i would say the LTC has a bit more noticable zip about it, definitely climbs a wee bit quicker. Whether it's worth the extra cash is a tough call, personally i would get the LT over the LTC.
I own a Nomad, totally love it but it's a different bike to the blur's. It'll do the trail bike thing no problem but don't expect it to be any where near as quick on the climbs as the blur. The descents are a different matter though, the bike is awesome on the descents (kind of mini DH bike).
If your a trail rider only then the blur is the bike. If you like to visit the alps, ride the odd DH track as well as trail riding then the Nomad ticks all the boxes.
Not ridden the Mojo so cannot comment.
I've had an LT2 for almost 2 years and love it as the perfect all round bike, and it's very tough (it's taken some big pile ups). Even though I hanker after new toys, have no thoughts of changing it. Have also ridden a Nomad which is a brilliant piece of kit.
Nodrog2's comments above on their relative positioning is spot on - only look at the Nomad if you are riding downhill tracks regularly, need 160mm travel and a slacker head angle.
Even if I had the money not sure I would go for the LTc. Any bike like this that's really used is going to get scratched, and that glossy finish on the LTc will look a lot worse after a couple of years than especially the ano finish
i have a nomad and got it when they first arrived here in the uk. The previous comments are spot on.The nomad is a great allrounder, but the bias is more to aggresive trails and dh type riding. I use this bike in the alps and here at home and it is fine for all my riding, but because of the build it is more suited to the alpine stuff. I have ridden blur xc 4x and lt, lt2. They are all excellent too, the lt2 has plenty of travel, climbs better than the nomad, and is a bit more agile through tight singletrack. This bike would be what i would go for for most of my riding, and is more than capable of alpine stuff too. This latest version has more longevity in bearings and links than the older ones too.
I have not ridden the ibis , but would like to try one so cant really comment ,except to say that the guys at the magazine seem to rate it very highly indeed. Tough call, but a nice position to be in.
I have a Blur LTc and love it! I came from a yeti 575 and at first the blur took a bit of getting used to, as it wasn't as planted as the yeti was, but now i have worked out setup and how to get the best from the suspension, i wouldn't go back... It climbs like a stabbed rat, and you can really throw it around. I know the aluminium one would feel similar, but the carbon is stiffer, lighter and looks far nicer! I like the nomad, but it's a different animal, as posted here already. It will be interesting to see if the rumors of a carbon nomad are true! The mojo is a good looking bike also, and is a little lighter, but even with the Lopes link, has more flex. It transpires since Jungle stopped importing them that they had a 40% return rate with warranties, which just puts me right off. 2pure who import them now are easy to deal with though in that event. I would (and did) go with the LTc and never look back ๐
Mrs oxnop had a mojo and now has a blur lt2 - she loved the mojo asking her she says " I felt like I could fly up climbs but still had an enjoyable descent" hers was a mixture of x0 and xtr so weighed 26lbs. But asking her about the blur lt2 she says - " I did love the mojo but the blur feels more confidence inspiring on the descents, i did notice the weight difference on the first ride but now I don't notice at all + I don't ever use the pro pedal when climbing) hers is a 2010 model with rev team 120- 150 mixture of xt and x9 & tech m4 brakes and weighs about 30lbs. She was also worried whenever a rock hit the mojo which always made her more weary of loose rocky decents.
She has really gained confidence while descending since getting the blur and can't wait to get back to sierra nevada for those long descents.
If it was me buying I'd go for the LT - I just wish her bike would fit me!
Cheers Guys
To clarify, I own a Nomad as I got a good deal on an 08 frame and built it up from old and new bits late last year. I don't need the extra travel but went with it because of the relaxed angles. Keep looking at the Blur but what puts me off is the relatively steep angle compared to the Nomad (66vs 69 degrees). Would love to have a ride on a Blur with 160mm forks as that would slacken the angles or maybe thats something SC may look at in the future??
Edit: my mistake, apparently the Nomad has a 67 degree head angle - could have sworn the site listed it as 66 before??
