Does anyone have any experience of servicing the bearings on a Blur LT1.
I am having real difficulty getting both the lower linkage axles out. I supported the frame on a block of wood and gave the bolts a damn good whack but they just refuse to move.
Is there an easier way of getting the axles un-seized or do I just need to hit it harder with the hammer? Don't really want to bend my frame!
**** it harder.
If you've got a nice sacrificial bolt with the right thread and a flat head, out that in a good way and that **** it for all it's worth.
Chances are that it will shift. Risks are (in rough order)
1) damaging the bolt
2) damaging the bearings (that you're replacing anyway)
3) damaging the axle (which you're replacing if you've got a pro-pack and can replace anyway if you really muller it)
4) the world ending
5) frame damage
(I may be wrong about the order or 4 and 5 though)
Are we really not allowed to say '****t' as in '****t it good and hard'?
I thought it was a legitimate engineering term.
just put a pro pack into my Mk1 Nomad and what Higgo says. Youre hitting a replaceable bolt in the end of a replaceable axle that is stuck into a replaceable bearing. As long as you dont miss the bolt and hit the frame youll be fine.
Maybe wear headphones or hum loudly if like me you wince and grit your teeth whenever you t**t a part of your bike with a hammer ๐
