Set off for Thursday night ride having just put a new set of pads in the front brake. Pulled the brake on hard to start bedding the new pads in and the first pull was fine but on the second something went and there was no bite. Pumped the lever but no joy so went home and flipped the bike upside down to find fluid dripping down the fork. Has this happened to anyone else? Are there seals in there that can go? Is it fixable or shall I just fork out on a new brake?
A seal on each piston in the caliper, a transfer-port seal between the caliper halves, and seals on the banjo connector, take your pick.Usually repairable unless corrosion has set into the seal grooves, probably worth changing the pistons at the same time if they're showing wear.
My Juicys started seeping so I changed all the seals and the pistons. Damned things still leak and have been consigned to hang in the shed untill I can bring myself to strip them again or until I can do the unthinkable and bin them.
mtbfix...don't suppose you still have the old ones do you...
