My rear brake has sharpened up and feels much less spongy. However it feels like I need more fluid in the system - the bite point is very close to the handlebar!
They are ELIXIR CR SL off my Stumpy, and have the pad contact adjust system. It does sound like there is some hissing from the lever itself when I bleed the lever.
Any ideas?
Wind the reach adjuster all the way out (and whatever the manual says about the contact adjuster) before you start bleeding them. Also, a bit of an obvious one, make sure you are bleeding them with the bleed block in, then set the pads with the pad spacer once you are done.
Every pair of Elixirs I have bled hisses at the lever. Not sure why, but they still end up ok.
Edit: I'm surprised I made it in before the usual "Fit Shimano/Hope/Formula/Hayes/Whatever I run on my bike" answer.
Cheers mate. I did not wind the reach adjuster all the way out - the manual says not to, but I can see this helping the problem out.
Will give it a go tomo. And thanks for mentioning the hissing, if its there then its there, hey!?
Many thanks.
