I've got a bike with a 73mm BB shell, and I've replaced the single spacer with a BB mounted Blackspire stinger.
The stinger appears to be too far outboard in relation to the crankset and so the chain is rubbing on the back plate. I've stuck a single 2.5mm spacer back in and this lines everything up nicely, but I can only just get the preload nut to engage and presumably the crank spindle is 2.5mm less engaged by the splines.
Is that setup going to cause damage in the long term? More importantly, will the NDS arm fall off? 🙂

I had the same, just bent the stinger in a bit.
