[#10669629]

Missus is buying me some goodies for my birthday next month and I've decided on some bars/stem for my Scott Spark.

Currently have the Syncros Hixon (760mm/50mm stem), but it doesn't really suit the bike for it's intended purposes. My initial idea was the go with the Fraser bar (740mm/60 or 70mm stem), but my eye has been drawn to titanium!

I've seen that Thompson do a ti flat bar (missed a second hand one on here a month or so back). Are there any others I should be looking at? I'll probably pair it with a silver stem.

The RusTi ones look good, tbh I've never really been sold on Ti handlebars, save for on looks, and if they fit with the rest of the build (a Ti frame being the starting point...).

Nice one, I'll have a look at those.

That's the thing I'm a bit stuck on. I'm not sure it'll fit the look of the bike...

Could I get away with it with some component colour changes?

IMO it would look odd, given the amount of carbon everywhere else. Similarly eewings cranks don't suit a lot of bikes, but we are getting into the realm of silly tartyness now...

Yeah I suppose... I needed bringing back down to Earth and away from the Magpie tendencies 🙂

Think I'll either stick the the Fraser idea, or even explore other carbon bar options with a nice stem.

Depends how bothered by weight you are though. I’m looking at the Fraser at the mo myself as it’s over 100g lighter than my current Thomson carbon flat bar & X4 stem combo.

Simple solution. Get the Ti components and then a Ti bike 👍🏼

After looking at the cost of the Fraser I decided to stick with a MT Zoom Flat bar for less than half the cost.   They've never let me down in the past.

OP, a slight diversion if you don't mind, what sag - in MM - are you running your shock at, and do you ever get full travel?   I'm up to 17mm and still not getting full travel although I don't do big stuff of course, and am just wondering if thats ta characteristic of the bike.

@funkmasterp
My missus wants a word with you, you're not helping! 🙂

@Kryton57
I've not actually checked it for a bit! I need to have a look really as I was smacking pedals all over the place when it was fully open at the Sam Houghton last week. Thinking about it, I don't think the shock gets full travel, but I'll check later.

@mattbee
Hmm, 100g here or there is going to make no difference to me really. The Fraser comes about 50g or so less than the Hixon that's on there now, but it's not the right size for the bike. At £300 the Fraser is the expensive option, but I wouldn't rule out another nice carbon bar and a nice stem.

The Thomson is a lovely bar, couple one of them with something like a KCNC stem and you’d have a light, comfy and very good quality cockpit.

Theres a 70mm Fraser on eBay at the mo, 2 rides old and £200.

I’ve just seen that it has sealed bar ends and I run a Samurai tubeless repair kit in my bars so I’ve lost a little interest and may just replace my Thomson stem for something lighter...

Sealed bar ends? That's mad as my Hixon isn't sealed... I'll let her know with a gentle nudge 🙂

Cheers @mattbee

Cheeky offer on the 70mm version was accepted on eBay 🙂 Guess I better get the Hixon bars sold now.

Might be interested in the Hixon for my Mrs’s bike if the price is right. 😜
