There is a guy locally who is selling a Bird Aeris AM9 2018.
I’m interested in it but I’m a tad confused with the sizing - the advert says 18.5 inch measurement from centre on crank to top of seat clamp.
He needs a medium size as currently 5ft 8 (5ft 10 with biking shoes on). Can anyone shed any light on what this fit would be like?
Its not the end of the world if it doesn’t work out as he has his eyes on a 2021 Vitus Mythique
That might be an large or XL with that measurement. Seatube length changed on the latter ones, if it's a 2018 it won't be a V3.
You would want a medium or medium long at 5'8 to 5'10
Perfect thanks!
What bike shoes have a 2" sole
Check the Bird website, it has a size guide so you can see what is recommended for your height against what his height and bike is.
https://www.bird.bike/frame-data-geometry/
That page lists all their bikes and shows you sizing recommendations.
I have a M/L V1 AM9, the seat tubes are longer than the V2 & V3 versions. The seat tube on V2 & V3 are one size down when compared to the V1.
It's only the V3 that has a shorter seatube IIRC, I had a v1 and V2 and pretty sure they were the same.
V3 took longer forks (160 or 170 if desired) and was just a bit stiffer overall.
