Hi just joined this forum looking for anyone who has got any advice on the bionicon reed 140 air zero. Are they all that are is it just hype. I don't want to she'll out £4k just to find I've made a big mistake. The thing that attracts me is the ability to shift the geometry that enables an "easier" ascent and once to at the top a push of the button changes the geometry for descending.

Has anyone got one of these And if so have you found any technical hitches with the bike?

Thanks

Mroom2. Borrowed an XL version from Goldtec a couple of times & the more I ride it, the more I like it. I'm borrowing an Orange 5 mid Feb so can ride back to back and get a good idea as to how the bikes compare. If local to Stoke, come and join me.

My first ride of a full sus which brought its own problems. Top quality bike and the shifting geometry works for me & I leave behind my 21 year old son on ascents 😀 and he's no slouch...

Suggest you call Kev at Goldtec & he could organise something for you: 01782 629462.

Good luck.

I've not ridden many of the range - I have an Ironwood (8" travel both ends), and fantastic it is too.

It weighs the same as my old Giant AC, but has 2" more travel either end and would whup the Giant's ass up a climb, and back down. The angles do make a massive difference. Go and test ride one on some proper terrain. It's the only way.

Technical hitches. It's complicated. There's no way around it, there are a lot of hoses and connections to watch out for and make space for, making sure they don't pinch or get tight when the bars turn.

Also, think about buying in spares of the custom parts (within reason) as there's not much chance of finding them out and about. I blew the shock on my Ironwood in the Alps on day 2 of a week, no chance of getting spare parts for them, even though the internals are quite similar to Fox, and there was a ex pro-team mechanic on hand. I ended up having to bodge the bike with a huge Fox Vanilla Coil shock 🙂 (Thanks to Evasion Sports, Les Gets)
