Evening all - I really like the look of the Bikestow solutions for holding bikes in place when you travel. We have a new SWB Transporter Kombi arriving soon and wondered if anyone had tried this combo and how easy the fit was?

The bikes will typically be large 29ers, from the images I've seen drivers turn the bars by 45 degrees and they fit but its impossible to tell if they its a LWB van or possibly smaller bikes!

Thanks in advance!

I have a SWB Transit Custom double cab (same as a Kombi, and I can’t fit my 29er hardtail in straight without removing the front wheel (if that’s all I have it will fit in diagonally) so I imagine the Kombi will have a similar length in the back with the seats in. If the seats are out then I there should be loads of room as I could fit complete bikes in my old T5 panel van bikes.
Not sure if that helped you at all. I’m sure there are thousands of STWers on here with T6s

Used to have a T5 Kombi - from memory, not a chance of getting them in the way you’re hoping

SWB T5 Kombi here, I have to take the front wheels off to get the bikes in straight.

The bikestow peeps are lovely - good friends. Julie knows pretty much every workable van combo. If you give them a call she'd be able to guide you as to what may work. They are a small family business and completely honest.

You'll only get bikes in whole diagonally corner to corner in a swb kombi they won't fit in a bikestow close to whole. In a LWB you can get most bikes in whole with bars turned rest of the bike in line with the van I had a rack built to hold the front wheels at 45 degrees right behind the middle seats.

Bear in mind that the geometry of the bike makes a huge difference. I could easily get 4 older bikes in whole behind the seat on my LWB T5, but my Occam and the boy's Trance need the front wheel off to fit.

Our SWB kombi has 2 + 1 rear seats, we take the double seat out and put the bikestow there.
Can then fit 3 bikes and 3 people with no dismantling required.

With all the rear seats in I'm not sure a large bike would fit even diagonally, certainly not more than 1 and not using a bikestow.

Thanks all - thats pretty much as I expected. Just taking the front wheels off isn't too much hassle.

@Infidel - I emailed Julie when I ordered the van, she was great but thought it best to wait until the van arrives to work out what may or may not fit

@flatpack i've had my geometron in the back diagonally with another large bike without issue. No chance with a bikestow.
