Interesting experiment by the police in Bristol.
Undercover PCSO toting huge bolt croppers nicks planted bikes in full view of passing public. Not one 999 call.

Doesn't surprise me in the least. My bike lock got the bolt cropper treatment while locked up outside the bank, when I briefly nipped in, at 9.30 in the morning in Piccadilly gardens in Manchester. How many people must have walked past some scally hanging off an enormous set of bolt croppers? Its hardly something you can do discreetly. It also shows that the scrotes must (rightfully) assume that no-ones going to challenge them, so they can rob bikes with impunity

Depressing! ๐Ÿ™

A group of people made a similar video in NYC.

They used a variety of tools up to a full on angle grinder.

No calls. No one asking if its their bike.

Tho I must add - in the very last clip a NYC policewoman did stop and call for backup - they had to slowly get their filming rights papers from the back pocket and point out the hidden camera men ๐Ÿ˜†

As sad as it is, I don't feel they could have done anything bar ring the po-leese.

I wouldn't want my other half to challenge that perticular thief.

Here's the NYC video:

One guy does stop - but only to offer advice...

That was the aim of the experiment: to see if anyone would ring. Nobody did.

Motor Cycle News did a similar 'stunt' a few years ago, using a sound-proof van (for the alarms).

Nobody paid any attention, and they 'stole' from the m/c parking outside St James's Tube station. Which for those who don't know is smack bang next to New Scotland Yard and its constantly patrolling armed Cops ๐Ÿ™„
