I'm in Huddersfield, I'll keep a look out. Whereabouts was it pinched from (area, road etc..)? I can pass it on to the bike shops, friends I ride with and 700+ people I know at church who live in Hudds.

We'll find it....

EDIT - sorry just read the OP again

Little ***.

Really wish these little career thieves get put in their place. If the police know who they are why the hell are they still out nicking things and mugging people!?

I sense the need for a sting like that paintball one posted a few days ago...

When I had my bike nicked last year, the police knew full well who'd done it. I never got it back. Its depressing.

Will you be going round to have 'a word' Ton? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hopefully you'll get it Shag. Great investigation work too - I take it minus the help of the fuzz?

I think those lads might be getting a visit from Doctor Pain, very soon.

God help them if ton gets involved, it'd like being slapped by a skyscraper.

[cowers] With all due respect Mr Ton sir [/cowers]

result, shag and his mate paid the above lad's a visit last night.
when they confronted them, they said they had no idea where the bike was.
after some gentle persuasion ๐Ÿ˜‰ the bike was produced undamaged and in fine working order.

i do like a happy ending 8)

Excellent, i take it they have suffered a little 'handicap' in their ongoing pursuit of a life of crime?

Truly glad the bike is back with its owner, but p1ssed off that they'll be out again tonight doing exactly the same thing to someone else's bike.

Why are the police so utterly disinterested in bike theft? Please don't point me at the one in one hundred cases where a bike is found and returned - speaking from personal experience - they just don't bother.

In this case, the guy was obviously a known thief - surely "a house full of bikes and parts" is enough to get a warrant and shut him down?!

Do we really have to start organising vigilante groups to get our property back?!

FreerideJim found the lads who nicked his Ellsworths, even took the Police to the lads house. From memory the Officers (the low-grade/bottom of the barrel-type) let the thieves get away with it.

On a positive note, I went out with an Irish Catholic girl from Kirkheaton. Gawd she was filth ๐Ÿ˜€

Isn't it a total load of sh1t that these scrotes can get away with this...
you can get a conviction for being drunk walking down the street but these guys mug people and steel bikes and get away with it...
They just have no respect and no fear of the law...
I honestly think they should bring back the punishment of 'a good kicking'. The judge in court should be able to say 'I know that we can't pin this on you, but you have oviously done it, so we are going to take you out the back and fill you in for a while'
Might actually work, although a little harsh ๐Ÿ˜•
edit: and well done for getting your bike back, I do believe they are more than the some of parts and this one wasnt ready to say goodbye!

I went out with an Irish Catholic girl once. Very frustrating. You can take the girl out of Cork, but you can't...

The police are asses sometimes. It seems that they don't care if its just a push bike even though that 'push bike' would buy these low life's a lot of smack! I would give all the info to them including how you found out who it was as it seems you did nothing outside of the law, assuming you didn't give them a seeing to, which they probably deserve. You merely gathered intelligence aout the whereabouts of your property and you asked for it to be returned in return for no further action.

You did the right thing! unfortunately people are left with little alternative than to sort things out themselves. It's not just W Yorks I can tell you. For what it's worth we have had some problems recently, this sure did illustrate the massive void between Surrey police and CSI! Utterly hopeless!!
