[Closed] Bike in a Mercedes CLK?

I'm still on my eternal 'BMW or Mercedes' quest. Whatever I get needs to be able to have my hardtail in it (rather than on top).

I was looking at the CLK - how about putting the bike in a bike bag and then in the gap between the front and rear seats?

So question: firstly has anyone got a CLK that they put an MTB in, and second, can anyone recommend a particular bike bag? I'm worried that the water from a muddy ride might still get through the zip on the bag (not used a bag before so I dont have a feel for it).

Cheers for the help.

save on a clk, get a 04 ish Audi RS4 or poss RS6 estate for the money, better built interior, would eat a clk for breakfast, lunch and nibble on it for dinner and throw 3 bikes, without fiddly bike bags, in the boot, along with bbq, fresh steaks, cans of beer, portable tv and dvd player and porn. So bike, beer, beef, porn then home, what a day..........

If it a coupe you are after, BMW coupe's have rear seats which fold flat giving a pretty good load area, certainly enough for a bike.

I don't think you are allowed to go MTB'ing if you drive a CLK are you? I believe golf and squash are the only sports allowed

Haha - yes indeed, its really amazing how much 'opinion' there is about BMWs and Mercs! In fact my main issue with buying a Merc is that all my mates thing its an old mans car... Doh. I would get a BMW in an instant if the interior wasnt so uninspiring.

CLKs only have 2 passenger doors don't they? I doubt you'd be able to get a bike in a bike bag through the door aperture, behind the front seats and onto the back seats.

Trying taking both wheels off and putting it all in the boot. I had an old E-Class and could fit a downhill bike (a Big Hit) with both wheels off in the boot.

You are probably right, although I found out after starting the thread that the CLK has folding seats. Problem solved. They are standard in 2004 models, aparently.

WCA's got the Safety Car, and just lobs his bike in the back seats.

I don't think Mrs WCA was too pleased with the nice gouge he put in the upholstery... ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Yup sould have no worries getting up to 2 bikes and kit for a weekend away in a CLK, I had the older model and it was no trouble, the seats fold flat into the cabin.

1 bike went into the boot without dropping the seats if you on your own.

Got a newer C class estate now and to be honest its not much difference in load capicity, my old shape CLK was huge though.

edit I thought they all had folding seats, my 2002 old shape did, would be suprised if the next model didnt)
