Not been out on the bike in ages, well - once in January I think... but I got it out today cos it is sunny and that provided the lacking inspiration of recent times.
It feels odd though. Unstable, twitchy... not at all happy letting go down hills as it feels like I am going to come a cropper?
Any ideas what could be the problem - or is it simply that I aint been out much at all in the last couple of years, or possibly that I have become so used to riding a bigass Triumph that lightweight mountain bikes are just feeling wrong?
Just considering whether it's worth sending it into a local shop for a good once over or not ๐
(It's a very early Yeti 575 with shock/fork never having been serviced if that makes any difference... fitted a new stem and bars recently due to corroded bolts and crash damage too, but not sure if that would still be feeling odd after 2 hours riding today!)
Any thoughts? I am needing to get caught up in the whole mountain biking thing again to a) get fit/shed poundage and b) get some happy endorphins ๐
IMO , ride it and all will come good !
I am wondering if it isn't just that a) my arse is in the air, unlike the motorbike and b) the handlebars are narrower...
And the tyres are a lot skinnier than 190 section rubber of course...
You may be right - I just seem to have lost what little mojo I ever used to have. It usually came back within a short time, just this time... nope.
I swap between a Brompton, a SS Hardtail and an Enduro FS frequently; I really notice the different handling of each when I do (I swear my HT is completely out of whack the first time I ride it after a break, but it doesn't take long for it to feel 'right'). I reckon it'll just mind/body getting used to the different 'feel'
