[Closed] Bike feeling unstable

I’ve just built up a Singular Swift, and the ride feels odd. I’ve had a few rigid bikes before (El Mariachi, a couple of fat bikes, Stooges and a Jones), and I’m finding the Swift particularly difficult.

It’s hard to lift the front end up, and easy to go over the bars. It feels particularly long, even with a 50mm stem, and I feel quite high up on it. The old cliche about feeling in the bike instead of on doesn’t apply here - I feel perched too high compared to my Jones.

I’m wondering what I can fix it with? Swept bars and an even shorter stem? Or just sell it and go back to Stooges?

Tried playing about with the EBB? Rearward position will shorten the chainstays, helping you lift the front up. Lowest position should mean you can drop the saddle a bit and feel in rather than on the bike. Lower also increases BB drop. The further below the front axle the BB is, the harder it is to go over the bars.

Depending on the age of Swift they mostly have quite old school geometry. Mine had a 72 head angle, even my gravel bike is 70 now. Might take some getting used to.

Sadly I’m limited in how much I can move the bb as I’m running it singlespeed but I’ll check that it isn’t up or forward. It does feel quite old school though, totally agree on that one!

My riding pal has a Singular Swift which he's adopted as his 'gravel' bike, he likes it but it rides like a Dutch town bike IMO.
